is the process of filling the area between a host pipe and liner pipe in re-lining applications, and very common for grouting casings with internal conduits in electrical duct banks. It is important when sealing and grouting the annular space, it must be done right the first time, since there is not a second chance.
Superior Grouting has extensive experience in placing
and sanded grout mix designs.
Excavation and removal of abandoned underground pipes can be extremely expensive, and abandoned pipes often cannot simply be left as is. In certain cases, the law now requires that any abandoned pipe be removed or adequately grouted so that it will not collapse and create voids that could cause settlement to the roadbed or structures above.
Abandonment and
is the process of filling the pipe with a cellular grout or sanded grout. It is important to remember when pressure grouting to abandon a pipe, it must be done right the first time, since there is not a second chance. Superior Grouting has mastered the art of abandonment grouting and
with four decades of experience.

Mix Designs: When working with cellular grout and considering mix designs, a cardinal rule is that as density decreases, so does strength. In some instances, such as the material needing to be excavated later, the loss of strength is a benefit. An additional benefit is that as the material becomes lighter, it’s thermal and acoustic insulative properties increase as well. A very basic cellular grout mix design would consist simply of Portland cement, water, and externally generated foam, which is also referred to sometimes as preformed foam. The water cement ratio can typically vary from .40-.80, and the foam content is commonly as high as 80%, depending on desired density.
Compared to heavier grouts, cellular concrete is lightweight and highly fluid, resulting in the following advantages:
Lower pressures reduce the risk of pipe or structure damage
Requires fewer access points. Cellular Grouting has the ability to pump for long distances (over 5,000 feet) – fewer access points mean lower costs and less disruption
Minimal shrinkage
Low hydrostatic and buoyant forces acting on carrier pipes
Virtually eliminates risk of incomplete filling or plugging of void spaces
Stability and strength with only minimal weight
Load reduction (vertical and lateral)
Contact grouting is the injection of grout between the initial support and the ground or jacked carrier pipe and the ground. It involves the filling of void space between a cast-in-place (CIP) structure and the in-situ geo-material or another structure.
When contact grouting, normally the extent of the void space is not known. Generally, the intent of contact grouting is to increase the structural integrity of the structure.
Since 1983, Superior Grouting has been a pressure grouting contractor working with various government agencies, large businesses, and corporations. For years, Superior Grouting has been in charge of these customers' specialized pressure grouting and concrete remediation needs.

“Superior Grouting used injectable foam to fix my cracked concrete. At the same time they lifted various parts of the concrete to even out the surfaces. They were FANTASTIC. On-time, hard-working, clean, precise – everything you want in a contractor. Their pricing was more than fair and their work speaks for itself. I highly recommend anyone using injectable foam for foundations, or lifting any kind of uneven surface to call Ron or Erica at Superior.”
